Enjoy fine wines at the new Yeatman Hotel in Portugal
If you like wine, you'll love The Yeatman hotel in Oporto, Portugal which opens its doors to visitors this August.
With its impressive wine cellar, rooms cleverly designed to resemble the region's Port wine terraces, wine-themed spa and proximity to the Douro Valley vineyards, the ambience is unmistakably inspired by the ubiquitous fermented grape. Even the swimming pool is decanter shaped!
According to Adrian Bridge, the hotel’s managing director, “The positioning of the hotel as a wine hotel is logical given its location and our company being a family business of 318 years standing.”
Guests at the 82-room hotel feel as though they're staying at a sumptuous Portugese manor with spectacular views across the Rio Douro and the unique, hill city of Oporto. A Unesco World Heritage Zone, the cente of Oporto offers its eclectic mix of baroque churches, narrow winding alleyways, medieval squares, and spacious modern boulevards.
When not sightseeing, visitors can relax at the hotel while enjoying a high degree of luxury. Each room is spacious and original, featuring unusual object d'arts and pictures from various Portugese wine producers. Says Adrian: “The large rooms have been decorated to create an elegant space, but also to provide some individuality. The process of decoration and design has been great fun.”
The Yeatman has a wine-themed spa too; the Caudalie Vinothérapie Spa provides a superb choice of treatments, including barrel baths and aromatherapy, and exclusive products containing antioxidants from the vineyard to rejuvenate the face and body.
