School Development Fund for The Gambia

School Development Fund for The Gambia

Tour operator, The Gambia Experience, have always contributed to the local community, particulary in the field of education. In 1989, the company set up their School Development Fund since, when, with the help of  customers, 100 Gambian schools have benefitted from new buildings, renovation and equipment.

This is all down to the generosity of people booking holidays whose donations have been matched by The Gambia Experience. For every 100 questionnaires received, the tour operator donates £10 towards materials while local people  devote time, labour and skills whenever possible.

How you can help

If you're planning to visit Gambia and have room in your suitcase, any small items you can take with you would be greatly appreciated. Even though primary education is usually free, pens, pencils, books, chalk and other stationery are always in short supply - in fact, parents have to provide all materials and equipment, even desks and chairs.
Clothing, shoes, toys (whatever you can squeeze in without increasing your luggage allowance) would be very welcome too. Please ask local staff at the resort about distributing these items.
Projects for 2010 include Baati N’darr Lower Basic School; Niani Senior Secondary School; Kabafita Upper Basic School; Pakalinding Lower Basic School; and Kanuma Basic Cycle.

If you are needing airport parking at Bristol, then Bristol Valet Parking are able to help.
