Short skirts in summer cause danger on the roads
Warning! That traffic stopping outfit may be far more dangerous than you think.
According to a recent survey by Sheilas' Wheels, the female-friendly motor insurers, 29% of male drivers are distracted by the sight of girsl in skimpy clothes, especially in the summer when temperatures are pretty volatile to start with.
It seems men are ten times likelier to crane their necks when driving past an attractive woman than the other way round. Last summer, men made 16.4% more claims than their female counterparts and 25% admitted to at least one accident or near miss during the previous 5 summers.
Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear believes motoring in summer is actually more hazardous than the dark nights, fog, ice and snow storms of winter. "We were talking about this the other day and we think the most dangerous time to drive a car is round about now. Sunny skies, light breezes, girls wearing short skirts - the thing is, you can't not look. You can't physically not look."
Incidentally, only 3% of the fairer sex are similarly distracted by me – which, when you consider the average man's hot-weather attire, is hardly surprising. Boys over 16, please note: Baggy shorts, ill-fitting football shirts and overhanging bellies do not attract the eye so, if you really want that kind of attention, take a cheap flight to Brazil where you might pick up some tips.
