When less is more, don't forget your toiletries
Forgetting those essential toiletries can be a costly business when travelling as, due to airline restrictions on liquids, passengers are having to pay up to three times more for last minute purchases, it was revealed recently in the Daily Mail.
Products such as mouth rinse or shampoo are now available in small containers in line with the 100ml volume allowance for hand luggage. Unfortunately, millilitre per millilitre, these packs can be as much as 220% more expensive than the standard sizes.
One top brand baby wash, for instance, costs £1.09 for 50ml compare with £2.69 for 400ml of the same product - that's £2.18 per 100ml as opposed to just 67p for the ful-sized bottle. A well-known mouthwash which s normally £2.89 for 500ml is 89p for 60ml working out at 162% extra.
Fortunately, there is a way to beat these over-inflated prices. A spokesman for trravelsupermarket.com suggests pouring products into travel-sized containers before leaving, so avoiding the manufacturers' "astronomical" costs. And, of course, it helps if you remember to pack them in the first place!
